Dr. Tan Kian Teois a specialist in dermatology whose areas of specialty include general and aesthetic dermatological conditions, and sexually transmitted infections. He evaluates and treats all medical skin, hair and nail conditions in both adults and children. He performs surgery for skin cancers and other benign skin lesions. He is an expert in minimally invasive procedures like cryotherapy, electrocautery, chemical peels, intense pulsed light therapy, laser surgery, botulinum toxin A and filler injections.

Dr Tan obtained his specialist training in dermatology at the National Skin Centre. He became an accredited fellow of the Academy of Physicians, Chapter of Dermatology, Singapore, in 2007.

Formerly a consultant dermatologist at Raffles Hospital, he had clinics at the Raffles Skin Centre and Raffles Aesthetics. Prior to joining Raffles Hospital, he was consultant at the National Skin Centre where he is currently still a visiting consultant. He was also a clinical tutor at the National University of Singapore Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and was active in the teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students.

An area of special interest to Dr Tan is hair problems. He was awarded the Ministry of Health Human Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) Fellowship in the year 2007 to pursue his interest in this field. He underwent training in the subspecialty of hair disorders at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield, United Kingdom, from 2007 to 2008. He is current a visiting consultant to the National Skin Centre where he runs the Hair and Nail Clinic.

Another area of particular interest to Dr Tan is urticaria. He has conducted various research studies on chronic urticaria in the local context. He was involved in setting up the Urticaria Clinic at the National Skin Centre together with Prof Malcolm Greaves and he was in-charge of that clinic prior to leaving for private practice.

Apart from clinical work, Dr Tan was also active in clinical research. He has published extensively in both scientific journals and the local media. He has also presented papers on his research at local and international scientific meetings. Dr Tan won the Best Paper Award at the Dermatological Society of Singapore Annual Scientific Meeting in 2006. He is frequently invited by international peer-reviewed scientific journals to be the reviewer for papers in his fields of expertise.
